If you are new to JabX Kickboxing Fitness, we are so thrilled you decided to sign up for one of our fun and stress-blasting kickboxing classes. To ensure there are no surprises during your first class, in addition to lots of sweat, we are going to share a few things that you can expect!

AN EXHILARATING WARMUP

Kickboxing is a cardio-heavy, full-body workout, making it essential to properly warm-up. During class warm-ups, expect a variety of full-body calisthenics with dynamic stretches that help get the body ready for the kickboxing movements and prevent injury. Once the body core temperature increases, your muscles are much more receptive for the movements in class. After warm-up, it’s time to put your gloves on! Don’t have kickboxing gloves? Don’t worry — we have extra!

LEARNING AUTHENTIC KICKBOXING MOVEMENTS

While the goal of kickboxing fitness classes is not to teach self-defense in the traditional sense, if the situation were to come, knowing you can fight off a would-be attacker with a disarming kick or punch will leave you holding yourself with a little more confidence. The authentic movements, techniques, and combinations you learn and perfect at JabX Kickboxing can be used in real-life practical defense applications, so pay close attention as you’re learning those punches, jabs, elbows, and kicks!

A FULL-BODY WORKOUT

As mentioned, kickboxing is a full-body workout. Front, side and roundhouse kicks work your legs and glutes, while punching and jabbing tones the upper arms, shoulders, and chest. Meanwhile, all of these movements, as well as shuffling, ducking, and side bends, will target your core for the entire workout. Strengthening your core will also ultimately improve coordination, while the constant movement in kickboxing improves flexibility and reflexes.
